NURSING SAGUARO

Here is a picture of the gentle nursing saguaro, take a look!

Want a closer look?  The parents have been taking turns for more than two weeks now. Any time I look it seems to me the same one is there, but I know better. I can't wait to see the little "dovelet" peeking out at the world from the great saguaro nest.

Speaking of saguaros and doves, the Mexican doves, (Zenaida asiatica mearnsii) have been around for a while awaiting the feast of the saguaro flowers. Nature is a really incredible web, is it not? And there are saguaros here and there that started flowering.

I will leave you with some pics of the first flowers I've seen at my friend's house. Enjoy!

What a feast! 'til next time, have a succulent life!

A SUCKER?

well, yes, i am a sucker for succulents and proud of it. i first said that when cisco (yes, the one and only "gardening with cisco", in seattle), interviewed me for one of his radio gardening programs a few years ago, during my first seattle flower and garden show. he understood how i felt and we have remained friends since then.
i have been growing succulents for years and no matter what plant i'm in front of,  it is my favorite. i can't make up my mind, that is how sucked in i am!
so i decided, why not share my joy ? i will be posting pictures and talking about whatever happens to be in front of me. after all, talking about succulents is my passion.
